ABOUT UOG PRESS
Publishing Philosophy
The University of Guam (UOG Press) centers the voices of Micronesia in the academic and creative works we publish. As a publishing house located in and committed to serving Micronesia, we understand the importance of providing accessible and respectful opportunities for regional authors, scholars, artists, and other professionals to share their narratives, research, values, histories, and visions. We strive to cultivate a vibrant, expansive collection of Micronesian publications and make them widely available to the region and the world.
Ethics Statement
Code of Conduct
The University of Guam Press is committed to publishing work in a manner intended to advance regional scholarship, develop cultural literacy, ensure accessibility of our publications to people of all abilities and cultures, and respectfully promote knowledge about Micronesia. We uphold the values of the Indigenous CHamoru culture of the Mariana Islands, particularly inadahi yan inagofli'e'—to take care of ourselves, others, and the environment by living in harmony together.
The Press fosters an environment and culture that encourages diverse perspectives and intellectual freedom, while prioritizing integrity and responsibility in the portrayal of the Indigenous practices and perspectives of the peoples in Micronesia. We are a press that nurtures local and regional talent, and we are committed to leveraging and highlighting our community’s strengths and expertise.
We do not tolerate cultural misrepresentations; racist, sexist, or other harmful points of view; fabrication, falsification, or intentional misstatement or inappropriate exaggeration of information; plagiarism; libel; slander; or defamation of character. All authors and contributors are responsible for disclosing any conflicts of interest and ensuring their works are original, accurate, and follow the ethical guidelines in their particular fields.
