Just One Kind Word
One Kind Word
A Documentary on Suicide in Guam
Guam has the highest suicide rate per capita in the United States, but statistics alone cannot capture the lived experiences of those affected by this tragedy.
One Kind Word, a suicide prevention documentary produced by UOG Press, explores how storytelling, poetry, visual art, and other creative expressions can open space for dialogue, honor grief, and foster resilience, community, and transformative action across our island. In this short presentation, UOG Press will feature a clip from the film that highlights how culture, gender roles, and colonialism shape the island’s high suicide rates.
